Upscaling Your Website

SYNOPSIS: How to upscale your website profits using a simple ratio.

I thought I should take a minute just to throw an idea at you. This is really following on from my post about how you determine the profitability of your website.

I'm going to assume a couple of things. I'm guessing that you know how many visitors you get to your web site each month. I'm also assuming that you track how many orders you make from your website.

If we imagine that you get 2,000 visitors per month, make 20 sales and earn £50 from each sale we can work out that 2,000 visitors generates £1,000. Logically, if you have 4,000 visitors a month you will double your profits to £2,000. Interesting idea?

I haven't even started talking about how you could make changes to your existing website that will increase the number of sales from the same amount of traffic. Nor have I mentioned increasing the average sales order by offering another one of your products or services that dovetails in to what they have just purchased. No, I'm simply talking about a brute force approach to increasing profits.

The next question you will ask is, how? There are, of course, a myriad of approaches including; pay per click advertising, search engine optimisation, creating joint ventures, establishing affiliate programs, the list is endless and I am not going to be able to describe how to do it here.

I feel as though I'm leaving you in the lurch a little bit because all I've said is hey, double your traffic, double your profits but not really told you how. I will be going into the detail of many of these approaches in future posts. However, if I was to offer you one significant, controllable and measurable technique it would be Google Adwords.

What's your traffic to profit ratio? (I think the really interesting aspect of this is that you will have an instinctive understanding of the results.)

Stay tuned, I promise that future posts will help you double your traffic and double your profits in the process!
